Dahveed 3 with corrections

Hi everyone,

A reader just let me know how those of you who have already purchased Dahveed 3 from Amazon can get the corrected version.  Contact Kindle customer support with your order number and the book title.  They downloaded the corrected version.  I'm assuming you will be able to get the new cover with it also, but I don't know that for certain.  I don't know if Barnes & Noble will do the same or not.  If anyone is able to get the corrected version from B & N, please let me know.

I've received a reply from a B & N reader, and they said customer service sent them the instruction to archive and unarchive the corrected version from their library.  It worked.

Quick update on progress:  All the new scenes have been written.  Now I'm at the "add-in" stage, getting in the little touches that sharpen the story.  Then it goes off for editing!

Update on work

Well, I'm briefly coming up for air, and thought I'd add a bit to my blog.  The majority of the work needed to finish up Dahveed 4 is done.  I'm pleased with the way the story has shaped itself.  It's possible that it will be ready for advanced readers in a couple more days.  Once they are done with critiques, I will re-edit, re-write, and re-read yet again!  Then it has to go to the people who do line editing for me, and once they get done with it, corrections have to be put in . . . But I'm still on track for a fall release of the book, barring unforeseen circumstances.

And once that is done, I will begin on Dahveed 5.  That means I will have to review all my note cards (about 6000 of them), refresh my mind on what's in the Bible for that part of Dahveed's life, and then figure out how I'm going to mix together three coronations, a civil war, General Abner, General Joab, the Philistines, the Araunah and Jebus, King Yira and Moab, and, of course, Balak ben Hod, and come out with something besides chaos.  Then there is the conundrum of time.  If Dahveed reigned in Hebron seven years after Shaul's death before becoming king of Israel, and he became king of Israel shortly after Eshbaal's death, but Eshbaal only reigned for two years after his father died, what happened to the extra five years????

Rules of the Game

I just realized there were some things I should have posted with my first blog.  My apologies to readers for not doing this from the start.  Since this blog is open to both positive and negative comments, I would ask that those who post critiques, criticisms or negative reviews please follow the following format as a courtesy to other readers.

1.  Please quote the sentence or paragraph with which you are disagreeing and give the book and page number where the quote is found.  For Kindle readers, please give the location number.

2.  Briefly state why you disagree with the quote.

3.  Most importantly, please give evidence to support your opinion.  If you use the Bible, give chapter and verse.  If you use other books or articles, give the title, the author, the publication date and the page where the evidence you are using can be found.  If you are using something from the Internet, include the link so that other readers can find what you are using.

4.  Please keep your posts no longer than 400 words.

And for all those who post comments, whether positive or negative, I would ask you to refrain from any personal comments about other readers.

Any posted comments which do not abide by the above will be deleted.

Thank you to each of you who will help to keep this blog an open forum for thoughtful courteous discussion, and a source of information for those wanting it.

The First One

Why I, as an author who studies, writes about, and revels in 1000 BC, am now blogging on the internet is a question I haven't been able to answer yet.  And why I decided to begin this blog just as I am ready to turn into a pumpkin and put down roots in front of my computer while I work on the next Dahveed book is also beyond me.  Yet, here I am doing it!

I guess it grew out of the questions I hear from readers who want to know how the next book is coming and what I am working on now.  To be perfectly literal about that last comment, I'm listening to William Tell Overture and writing this blog.  Do I always listen to music when I write?  Yes.  99.9% of the time.  Classical only, no words, at least not in English.  (Dahveed 1 will forever be connected to Rachmanioff. ) By the end of the summer I won't be able to listen to classical music without my fingers itching, and my brain beginning to plot---something, anything!

The blog also seemed to be a good way to provide a forum for readers to communicate with me, and with each other.  So, I hope you enjoy it.  As far as I can see right now, I won't be posting a lot, too busy writing, but I will try to keep current with what's been put on it by others.  I will also try to keep my web page updated with significant news.

To those of you who have purchased my books so far, THANK YOU!  Remember, Dahveed 3 is now available as an e-book for Kindle and Nook from Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.  And for those of you without Kindles, "Kindle for PC" free application should be of help.  See "Ordering Information" on my web page.

Back to writing!

P.S.  Anyone got a good name for this blog?
