Update: Proof of Concept film and Dahveed 6

We held our first Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for creating a proof of concept film.  A big thank you to everyone who pledged!  While we didn’t make the funding goal, the campaign opened connections we wouldn't have made otherwise.  We are continuing to fundraise, and I will post the new funding avenue when it's available.

To sign up for direct production updates go to DAHVEED Updates at :
https://www.visualrhythms.co/about-contact

As far as Dahveed 6 goes, I've finished the third editing pass for the second half of the book.  Now I have to read it again to see if it's still coherent, and then flesh out the scene outlines for the final events.   Keep me in your prayers.

What's Happening with Dahveed?

 Quite a lot!

First of all, the project to make a short proof-of-concept film to bring Dahveed to video format has come to the fund raising stage.  Click here to go to the Kickstarter page and see what it's all about.  Everyone is working hard to make the story as accurate and true-to-the-times as possible as has been done with the books.

As far as Dahveed 6 goes, I'm in the third and last phase of editing the second section of the story.  This part has to be edited first, so I know what to keep in the first section!  Sounds backwards I know, but that's the way it goes for some books.

As always, thanks for your prayers and encouragement.  And do check out the link above.  If it doesn't work on your system, the entire link is given below:

God Bless!

The Story is Done!!

At last!!  After twenty years, ALL of the Dahveed story is OUT OF MY HEAD!!

Now, the really fun part of the process for me begins.  I have a massive editing job ahead of me, but now that all the story is on paper, I can work out what needs to be cut, what needs modification, and what must remain.

I'm also considering bringing Book 6 out in two volumes, which will make it more manageable for publishing and for readers.  Please keep me in your prayers as I move on to this part of the process.

God Bless you all!

News about Dahveed 6 and more!

Well, 2024 is nearly gone, and while I have made progress on Dahveed 6, it's not the amount of progress I had hoped for!  After what has happened this year, I can only conclude that Dahveed 6 will be released when God wants it to be, and not a moment before.  I am, however, just a few scenes away from the home stretch, which is Absalom's rebellion.  One of the reasons I have not made more progress on Dahveed 6 is because . . .

I have signed a contract with Visual Rhythms Productions to produce a Proof-of-concept film, which will be about 10-20 minutes long, and which will be used to propose making Dahveed 1: Yahweh's Chosen into a TV show, along the same lines as "The Chosen".  Working out the details of the contract along with associated tasks bit into my writing time.  However, we've made good progress.  Fund raising has begun, and we are working on the script for the film.  Of course, producing a show script is quite different from writing a couple of book chapters, so I have much to learn about changing my perspective from book to script!  Telling a story is still the same, however, so I am comfortable with working out a plot, and am learning what to look for regarding other aspects of the scripts sent me to review.  Please pray for this project.   I will do my best to pass on progress updates as they occur.   We'll have to see where God leads.

Update for Dahveed 6 2023

The hard part is over!  I'm so happy to report that.  Critique from advance readers has told me that this section of the book needs a lot of editing yet, but the story for it is out of my head!   Writing the rest of the book, will, I hope, go much faster since it is a much smoother "plot journey."  Please continue to keep me in your prayers.  Thanks so much.

Progress on Dahveed 6

Dahveed 6 is progressing much slower than I planned.  As of now, I am about half done with composing the manuscript, and so I am uncertain whether I can meet my hopeful deadline of late fall 2023 for publication.

After research extended beyond what I expected, I had the surprise revelation that dealing with digital note cards is much different than dealing with physical note cards, especially when it comes to sorting them!  I had to program the macros to sort the cards, then actually sort the cards and decide which ones would make it into the book and which ones wouldn't . . .

That being the case, I want to assure everyone waiting for the finished product that I am working on it to the exclusion of nearly everything else.  Please continue your prayers for me.  I want this book to be the best of the series, and am doing all I can to make it so.

Research is Done!

Research for Dahveed 6 is done!  I am sorting note cards, the last step before writing begins.  It took 2 months longer than I anticipated to do the research, but a lot has been published since 2010.

And -- All My Glory is now available in print!  To order, go to my website:  terrilfivash.com, click on Ordering Information in the menu on the lower right and call the Adventist Book Center number listed under that title.  This book is the author's edition of Joseph: A Story.

I am hoping to begin writing next week, so this is the last post til fall.  God bless you all, and keep me in your prayers.  Thank you!

Davheed 6 and All My Glory

Here's an update for those of you interested in the process of writing Dahveed 6.  I have completed periodical research, and am slogging through the books published on the subject in the last 10 years.  I am still targeting this fall for completing the manuscript, and next fall for publication.

All My Glory:

For the first time in many years, the story of Joseph will be available in hard copy!  The print book, like the e-book, is titled All My Glory, and is at the printers right now, so will shortly be available.  Watch the Order Information page on my website for ordering information.

One last detail.  My e-books will no longer be offered in Barnes & Noble format.  I have had to remove them from the market in that form.  They are still available as Kindle books however.

I will try to post one more time before I dive into writing Dahveed 6.  Thank you so much for your prayers!

Thanks and Apology

First of all, thank you all for your encouraging comments.  I do eventually read them all, and I am so glad that the books are a blessing to so many.

Secondly, my apologies that the inappropriate comments stayed on the site for so long.  I have removed them, and I will attempt to monitor the site more often to keep these comments from posting.

Thanks for your patience!

Dahveed 6

First of all, thank you so much to all of you who have encouraged me and prayed for me and my family these last 8 years.  I have so appreciated it.

Now, with the coming of a new year, I am beginning on the project put on hold for so long.  Dahveed 6.  I have nearly 10 years of research to catch up on, and then comes the "deep dive" when I actually compose the manuscript.  "Good Lord willin' 'nd the creek don't rise," publishing date for Dahveed 6 is in 2023.  Please keep me in your prayers as I finish off the series.

My Dad

On July 28, 2021, Dad fell and broke his femur just below the hip ball joint.  Surgery the next day stabilized the joint, but within 18 hours of surgery, Dad suffered multiple pin-point strokes.  He rallied from that enough to come home for care, with the possibility of rehab in the future.  But within hours of returning home, Dad lost all the ground he had gained.  With the help of hospice, he stayed comfortable and relaxed until his death on August 8, 2021.  To all those of you who have kept myself and my family in your prayers all the years we cared for Dad, thank you so much!  Those prayers were greatly appreciated.

Merry Christmas!! Joseph is back as All My Glory

Finally, after years of waiting, I can at last announce that the Joseph story is again available for purchase.  I spent the last month re-formatting and re-editing the manuscript.

It is available as of today as an e-book from Kindle on Amazon.  The title has changed.  Look for All My Glory.  At this point, it is only available as an e-book.  I'll be working on a re-published hard copy next.

Most of the editing simply smooths out the narration of the book, but there are three places where I touch the story line, two of them briefly.  But one of them corrects a plot line "pot hole!"  Let me know if you think you've found them.

Thanks so much for your encouragement and support.

December

Thanks so much for the amazing response to my previous post!  It's been so long since I've put anything out, that I wondered if anyone would see it when I did.  I do appreciate your encouraging words and support.

Dad continues to decline, and we will probably bring in outside help after the holidays.  Thanks for your prayers.

As far as ordering books goes, the best place to look is on my website:  www.terrilfivash.com  Click on Ordering Information on the menu and that will take you to a page that lists all my books currently available for sale and where they can be purchased.

And for those of you looking for Joseph: A Story  -- Good news is coming!

July 2020

I see it's been three years since I posted anything on this blog!  My apologies for taking so long.  My father just celebrated his 95th birthday, but we are not certain if he will make 96.  Please keep us in your prayers.

A lot has happened, especially due to COVID 19.  The Berrien Springs Adventist Book Center has closed its doors for good.  For those of you wondering where to order my books, please contact the Indiana Adventist Book Center in Cicero, IN.  They are now the primary distributors for me.  I do not have an 800 number for them, but this one will connect you:  317-984-5393.  I also have an email address:  indianaabc@misda.org  and I assume it still works.  If anyone has trouble with it, please respond to this post, and I will work on getting a corrected one.  Feel free to pass the word to others about the shift in distributor.  And thank you so much for your prayers and patience as we all wait for Dahveed 6!

December 2017 Update

News is sifting back to me that Dahveed 2 is getting scarce.  I have the rights to it back, and I'm working on re-printing it as soon as I can.  Right now, I'm waiting on permission to use the same cover.  However, the newly published book may be the author's version, which has some extra material in it.  I'm still debating on what will be best to do.  Let me know your opinions!

November Update

Well, a lot has happened since my last post.  God keeps working in mysterious ways!  But it is encouraging that my brother has returned to this area, and is doing a lot to help with my Dad's care.

As mentioned previously, Dad continues a slow decline, which means there are more things that he needs done for him now than last spring, but with two of us working together, the load is lighter.

Even though I do not see the purpose for the long wait to write Dahveed 6, I know God has one, and that some day I'll see and appreciate it!  So, while I am occasionally impatient to get that last book written, I am also content to wait, since my father has higher priority in my life.

Once again, thanks to all of you hanging onto your patience and sending encouragement and prayers my way!  I do appreciate it so much.

What's happening now.

First of all, to all those who have written and commented with such encouragement, thank you so much!  While I wait for God's time to write Dahveed 6, I've been doing what I can to become a better writer, including taking some on-line courses in writing techniques.

My Dad continues a slow decline, and caring for him takes more of my time.  However, there is a chance that my brother may be able to spend some significant time in my area, helping with Dad's care.  Please pray that God's will and timing will come to pass.

Website Woes

Just to let people know that my website crashed, and I have not yet be able to get it working again.  My apologies for the inconvenience.  The website crash was the latest in a series of computer issues beginning with a hard drive disintegration that blossomed into an operating system smash that led to a software rebuild, that spilled over into non-recognition of the password for the web-site, that exploded into a full web-site crash . . .  I'll get things going as soon as I can!  God bless!

Terri.

Dahveed 6: Update 4

Well, I'm done with the translation of the chapters in 2 Samuel and 1 Chronicles covered by Dahveed 6.  While I was doing that, I found that sometimes the Hebrew grammar can put a different slant on the translation, so I dug out my reference books for grammar and checked all the references in them.  Now that I've finished with that, I have to enter my notes into the computer so I can organize them, and then make the table of all the names and titles used in the stories.  When David is called "David" and when he is called "the king" can also put a different slant on what is happening . . . After that, I will be ready to begin the final sort of all the note cards.  So, progress may be slow, but it is happening!

I also want to take the opportunity to say thank you to all those who have encouraged me and are praying for me.  May God abundantly bless this thanksgiving season for you all.

Terri
